Croissant Croutons

Author A Pleasant Little Kitchen | December 4, 2025

Author note: Freshly baked croissants will work for this recipe, however, a stale croissant will do better. When toasting, watch the croissants carefully, the butter can burn quickly.

Ingredients

6 cups 1/2-inch croissant pieces

4 tbsp salted butter

kosher salt

Instructions

On the cooktop and in a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-low heat.

Add the croissant pieces to the skillet, and thoroughly toss to coat with the butter.

Toast the croissant pieces until golden brown, about 7 to 10 minutes. Turn the croissants about every minute, to ensure equally crispy golden croutons.

Some croutons may finish before others. Remove these pieces and continue to toast the remaining ones to desired crispness.

Remove from the heat and let cool, about 5 minutes. Place onto a platter. Bring to room temperature. Serve on salads or store in an airtight container, up to 3 days.
