Serves 4

Author note: When making this recipe, I use Cholula hot sauce. Enjoy the buffalo shrimp by themselves or topped with blue cheese or ranch. Another way to serve the shrimp is in tortillas topped with blue cheese and fresh cilantro.

Ingredients

5 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 pound raw shrimp

1/3 cup hot sauce

2 tsp brown sugar

1/2 tsp kosher salt

2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

blue cheese crumbles, optional topping

Instructions

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add the shrimp in one layer, and cook for 5 minutes, flipping the shrimp 2 minutes into cooking.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the shrimp from the skillet, leaving as much butter in the skillet as possible. Add the hot sauce, salt and sugar into the skillet. Stir. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Place the shrimp back into the skillet and stir well to thoroughly coat the shrimp with the sauce. Cook for 3 minutes, or until the shrimp is cooked through.

Pour the shrimp and sauce onto a serving platter. Let cool for 5 minutes, top with optional blue cheese and serve immediately.
