Quick Snacks

Author Albertsons Market Dietitian | January 13, 2025

Today we are going over delicious foods that make eating well a little easier. Embrace balance and savor every bite with a start to well balanced meals.  We also wanted a way to help balance your bank account while shopping for some products, so we partnered with some companies to help bring you some savings. Check out the following items in our store to help you on your journey.

When we think of snacks we usually think of chips, pretzels, and many other foods that are not necessarily packed with nutrients. Snacking is also something we tend to do when we are bored or stressed.  But, snacking can be a positive part of our day - both for nutrition and when we are hungry. We can snack on things that benefit our lives by providing important nutrients that our bodies need. Snacking can also be a great way to get more fruits and vegetables in our diets. By keeping ready to eat fruits and vegetables on hand, snacking on nutrient dense foods can be easy.

First look at the nutrients

Things like added sodium, protein, and added sugar will be the top three things to be cognizant of in our eyes when choosing a snack. We want to find something balanced to sustain your energy. While true “snack” items are generally higher in sodium and sugar, we challenge you to get familiar with labels and choose the best option for you.

Second - think in combination

When snacking, it’s a good idea to have some protein and/or fiber with carbohydrates.  For instance,

  • Archer Jerky’s can pair well with a small glass of orange juice or kombucha.
  • Cedar’s hummus is great with carrots or whole grain crackers.
  • Chobaini Greek yogurt is great with berries or other fruit.
  • Evergreen waffles are small, so they are perfect to dip in some Greek yogurt.
  • Skinny Dipped Almonds are great on their own or can pair well with an apple.
  • Cubed cheese and fruit or grape tomatoes
  • Banana and nut butter
  • Several bars have a combination of both carbs and protein, such as Perfect Bars (the snack size is a great option for a smaller snack), Mezcla bars and Aloha Bars.
  • Peaches and cottage cheese (or any fruit for that matter)
  • Bell Pepper Fajita Mix strips and individual guacamole cups
  • Deli meat roll ups with cheese cubes

These are some of our favorite ways to fill up AND fuel up!
